A native Texan, Betty lives with her husband, Wayne, in Spring, Texas. She is a member of the Artist of Texas, the Pastel Society of Southeast Texas and Woodlands Art League. She paints weekly in groups with models and attends workshops and classes offered in the very active artist community in her area. Betty started drawing in early childhood, but didn't start painting until she was 28 with oils. She has been fortunate to attend many workshops from talented professional artist over the years, including Jeraine Reat, Bob Wygant, Scott Burdick, Tom Browning, Ron Riddick, Carolyn Anderson, Bobbie Kilpatrick, and Linda Dellandre with pastels among others. For over a decade the majority of her time was spent on large private commissioned murals in acrylic with the material chosen by the client. She has used various mediums over the years including oil, acrylics, watercolor, china paint, sculpture, and pastel. Oil has been her choice of medium since she first started painting over 40 years ago, but after recently discovering the beautiful results from working with soft pastel she has found another medium that she likes equally well.
"Painting is a never ending process to learn and improve my skills and a way to express myself. It gives me a deeper appreciation of the beauty surrounding me daily. I am thankful to have an art filled life and hope that others may enjoy my small contribution to the world of art."
