Jane, an artist/ poet/teacher/writer has given numerous presentations to organizations on many subjects. Her drawings and poems have been published in university journals and collections. She has also won ribbons for painting at the State Fair of Texas, Including in 2013, Third Place in the State Fair Creaive Arts Department Oil and Acrylic category for "Blue Belle," horned cow in blue and white.
Jane began her studies in art with Vivian L. Aunspaugh at twelve. Instructors at SMU were Dallas artists DeForest Judd, Jerry Bywaters, and Ed Bearden. Workshops include Robert Crispo, Doug Walton, Jane Jones, and Laurie Justus Pace, (May 2013/knife painting).
Jane says: “I believe creating art or pursuing other creative activities improves the quality of our everyday lives, while mentally age-proofing and bore-proofing us. As the song line from “Young at Heart” goes, ‘Life gets more exciting with each passing day . . . .’ And this is certainly true when we’re doing art. We can never run out of new avenues to explore.”
